This Smart Integrated Magnetics solution has been developed to address the constraints of space power electronics, where volume, mass, efficiency and reliability are critical. The integration of multiple magnetic functions into a single assembly allows a reduction of footprint and wiring complexity within the PCDU architecture.
The design takes into account harsh environmental conditions typically encountered in space applications, including thermal cycling, limited heat dissipation and high mechanical stresses. Core materials, winding structures and mechanical construction are selected and validated to ensure stable electrical performance and mechanical integrity throughout the mission lifetime. As a custom solution, the magnetic design can be adapted to different power levels, frequencies and environmental constraints defined by the space system architecture.
