In naval engineering—whether for surface fleets or submarines —compromise is not an option
Our core strength lies in our ability to develop Build-to-Spec magnetic solutions (transformers and inductors) through our dedicated R&D teams. We understand that every naval electrical architecture is unique.
Below, we highlight 5 of our flagship products that demonstrate the breadth of our expertise, ranging from precision measurement transformers to water-cooled high-power inductors.
Low Frequency Isolated Transformer was specifically engineered to integrate seamlessly into modern naval measurement chains.
Unlike standard commercial solutions, this transformer prioritizes linearity and galvanic isolation to ensure that data transmitted to control systems remains noise-free, even in electromagnetically noisy environments.
Exxelia Advantage: A compact design (approx. 120x100x135 mm) capable of maintaining measurement precision (30VA / 60Hz) while providing a robust safety barrier for downstream equipment.
The current trend in naval power electronics is the shift toward higher frequencies to reduce the weight and volume of converters (SWaP - Size, Weight, and Power).
Our High Frequency Transformer addresses this challenge directly. By utilizing advanced winding technologies (proprietary Litz wires, flat conductors) and low-loss magnetic materials, we can handle high power levels (tens of kW) within reduced volumes.
Exxelia Advantage: Optimized thermal management. Whether through conduction, forced convection, or liquid cooling, our engineers tailor the thermal dissipation path to ensure the component's "hot spot" remains well within safety limits, guaranteeing an extended operational lifespan.
This is where Exxelia’s expertise is most critical. Developing a Self-Transformer Assembly (20kW, 35µH) for naval propulsion requires far more than electrical skills. It demands total mastery of materials in the face of radiation and exceptional mechanical resistance to shock (military grade qualifications).
This hybrid product combines transformation and inductance functions into a single mechanical assembly to save critical space while maximizing reliability.
Exxelia Advantage: Unfailing reliability. This component is designed to operate for decades without maintenance, integrating drastic safety margins to meet the most stringent sector standards.
To counter magnetic mines and reduce a vessel's signature, modern Degaussing systems rely on current loops driven by sophisticated high-frequency amplifiers.
Our High Frequency Self-Inductor is a key element of these converters. It must withstand intense currents while effectively filtering harmonics to generate a "clean" magnetic field.
Exxelia Advantage: The ability to handle strong DC and AC superimposed currents without core saturation, thanks to a rigorous selection of magnetic materials (powder cores, nanocrystalline) and a rugged mechanical design proofed against the vibrations of rotating machinery.
For main power distribution, we have developed a High Power Inductor capable of handling up to 300 kVA. This component is a prime example of our ability to integrate complex cooling systems.
Utilizing indirect water cooling, this inductor offers phenomenal power density compared to air-cooled solutions, allowing for significant space savings in the engine room.
Exxelia Advantage: Mastery of liquid cooling. We design integrated heat exchangers to efficiently evacuate heat, allowing the inductor to operate at full load (up to 500 kHz) in hot ambient environments (up to 75°C), while remaining watertight and pressure-resistant (tested to 12 Bars).
The table below presents examples of realized specifications. It is important to note that at Exxelia, these values are not limits, but starting points for your specific requirements.
